Waawaate Press
[wah-wah-teh] — Indigenous-owned • Stories that refuse the template

Unwritten — by Henlaw

Waawaate means Northern Lights in Ojibwe. This imprint exists because too many publishers demand formulas. We publish the odd, the sharp, and the stories that don’t ask permission. Henlaw writes dark, surreal, meta‑grim fantasy—books that redraw the lines instead of coloring inside them.

Right now the focus is the Unwritten cycle. Book I is complete; Book II is ongoing; Book III brews next. Edited “book editions” will roll out to retailers after ISBNs are live. Until then, binge on Royal Road, support via Patreon, or grab merch from the shop.

About Waawaate Press

Waawaate Press is an Indigenous‑owned micro‑press founded by Henlaw. We champion voice‑first, risk‑taking fiction—especially work that big houses might tell you “doesn’t fit the market.” We keep the stack simple: clean editing, striking covers, wide digital distribution, and print that bookstores can order (Ingram distribution coming soon).

If you’re an author writing the weird, the sharp, or the unclassifiable, say hello. The list is small by design, but the door’s open for the right book.
